.... Abu Dhabi......

"Capital Gate is not about being the biggest or the tallest, it is about advanced technical ingenuity and aesthetic splendor. This is one of the most challenging buildings under construction in the world at the moment but due to the partnership between ADNEC, RMJM and all contractors on the project, ground breaking solutions are being designed on a daily basis.RMJM's Capital Gate tower in Abu Dhabi will lean more than the Tower of Pisa.

.... materialecology .....

materialecology was formed in 2006 by Neri Oxman [Neri Oxman is an architect and researcher currently based at MIT where she is a Presidential Fellow working towards her PhD in Design and Computation ] as an interdisciplinary research initiative that undertakes design research in the intersection between architecture, engineering, computation, and ecology. As such, this initiative is concerned with material organization and performance across all scales of design thought and practice. As such, it seeks to promote and define a design research agenda which is ecological in nature, in ideology and in material practice; it aims at embracing the evolving elements of change in both (and indeed related) social constructs and environmental descriptions of the ever changing built environment. materialecologyundertakes research in advanced digital applications for architectural practice and pursuits their contribution to a design paradigm promoting generative design processes.

.... less does more ....

Last year’s theme was Height featuring tall buildings from around the world. This year, Less Does More will examine how creative design, imagination and innovative thinking can reduce the amount of energy, material, time and finance is needed to create buildings and cities. Architecture equals thought-informed building: a series of case studies, from small products to urban districts, will explore how cutting-edge thinking can be implemented to achieve maximum value with minimum cost. The exhibition will be complemented by a trade exhibition featuring products and technologies related to the theme; and it will be the basis for a series of linked seminars during the three-day WAF event which all visitors have access to throughout.

.... coming soon ....

Initially previewed in October 2008 at the Frieze Art Fair in London, the final design prototype will soon go into production.

‘The design expression behind the collaboration with Lacoste footwear allows the evolution of dynamic fluid grids,’ said Hadid. ‘When wrapped around the shape of a foot, these expand and contract to negotiate and adapt to the body ergonomically. In doing so a landscape emerges, undulating and radiating as it merges seamlessly with the body.’

A limited edition of just 850 pairs will be made .... and i hope one is for me!!!!!!!!!!

...brilliant 3D modeling ....

Seasoned runners know the beauty and peace of a solitary night run.

The production company Shilo has turned the ritual of the night run into a trip through heaven and hell in BrotherSister’Still Run music video.  With the slow, dreamy soundtrack of BrotherSister’s musings, Shilo creates a world both beautiful and violent– with the video’s protagonist “still running” through it all.

Shilo’s brilliant 3D modeling and visual effects mastery shines through from the start.

With a high-action, liquid heavy perspective, photographer Ruud Baan has painted a series of watery portraits with his camera.  Exhibiting a kinetic emotion with a watery sense of time’s slowness, Baan has photographed the self awareness of humanity in a watery medium.

High fashion, swimwear, streetwear and culture are all represented in full effect.

The builders, designers and architects of today grew up with Legos yesterday.  To celebrate this connection, Lego has released their Lego Architecture series, including kits of some of the world’s most famous works of architectural design.

Recently, Lego revealed a series of kits dedicated to the works of Frank Lloyd Wright, including his New York Guggenheim Museum and the Falling Water masterwork in Pennsylvania.  As Legos have been the building blocks of creativity for many, Lego hopes to exhibit the building blocks of some of Frank Lloyd Wright’s architectural greats.
